IIHF Champions League Matchday 1 Scores and Review
All Scores are Home VS. Away
Group A
Eisbaren Berlin 3 Karpat Oulu 2 (1-1, 1-0, 1-1)
A very evenly matched games despite most of the Karpat Oulu team recovering from a stomach Flu Outbreak from last week. Berlin scored just 1:35 into the game from Florian Busch, just a couple of minutes later Tulson Mulock. After it was very nevours game where the defense dominated most of the game. Late in the 2nd period Eisbaren Berlin scored to make it 2-1 and then pulled away from their despite The Karpat Goalie playing well. Finally Eisbaren made it 3-1 and won 3-2.

HV71 Jonkoping 6 SC Bern 2 (1-0, 2-0, 3-2)
HV71 just dominated this game, in the first period they outshot SC Bern 17-2, finally HV71 scored late in the first and then scored 2 goals in the first 2 and half minutes into the 2nd period where SC Bern basically didn’t have a chance. Also SC Bern just took way too many penalties in the game for the recently qualified culb.

Group C
Salavat Yulayev Ufa 7 Ceske Budejovice 1 (1-0, 3-0, 3-1)
This was the easist of the 4 games today. Salavat from the end of the first on was rolling on all cylinders during the game. Ceske Budejovice is also one of the weakest teams in the Champions League this season, their currently 7th in the Czech Extra League right now including a loss against the newly promotied Mlada Boleslav recently. This group will be determined with the 2 games between Salavat Yulayev Ufa and Slovan Bratislava.
Standings W-OTW-OTL-L PTS GF-GA
1.Salavat Yulayev Ufa (RUS) 1-0-0-0 3PTS 7-1
2.Slovan Bratislava (SVK) 0-0-0-0 0PTS 0-0
3.Ceske Budejovice (CZE) 0-0-0-1 0PTS 1-7
Group D
Slavia Prague 4 HC Linkopings 2 (2-1, 1-1, 1-0)
Early it looked like HC Linkopings would possibly run away with the game with the fast start with the shots on goal. However, the Slavia Goalie held his cool allowed Slavia to stay with the game. After scoring twice in 5 minutes they were able to change the game. In the 2nd and 3rd The Slavia Goalie was rock solid including stopping a penatly shot to keep them ahead. Group D may be on the tightest and the best group to follow during the group stage.
Standings: W-OTW-OTL-L PTS GF-GA
1.Slavia Prague (CZE) 1-0-0-0 3 4-2
2.ZSC Lions (SUI) 0-0-0-0 0 0-0
3.HC Linkopings (SWE) 0-0-0-1 0 2-4
