Puck Podcast – March 8th, 2008

In this week’s episode of the Puck Podcast we talk about the return of Sidney Crosby and Peter Forsberg as well as a couple of Blackhawks legends returning to the Windy City. We’ll also take a look back at the week that was in the NHL with complete recaps, highlights and analysis of all the big games, we’ll examine how the teams that made big moves at the trading deadline are doing with their new players, Doug makes a plea to the NHL to keep things the way they are while Eddie tells you why hockey fans in L.A. are frustrated – and for once it has nothing to do with the Kings. All that and a whole lot more in this episode of the Puck Podcast.

  1. i have a real coplaint about the officiating around the league. it is so bad i can barely stand it anymore! the other night in the islander flyer game there were some terrible calls. phantom penalties and just stupid calls. eddie and doug were talking about missed calls during the philly tampa game, how about the refs seeing things in this game that didn’t even happen. hartnell scored a goal, gets cross checked in the back, skates toward the player that cross checked him, but the linesman holds him away… hartnell gets a penalty for “unsportsman like conduct” even though he didn’t even get to the islander or say anything to him????? i don’t understand. philly had just made it 3-1 and ny gets a pp on that call that could have been a turning point in the game… i can’t stand it!!!

  2. also, if you look at ot or shootout losses, which are actually losses, 16 of 30 teams are .500 or worse.

  3. Hey guys,

Great job, really enjoy the podcast.

In hockey it is “a kick a the cat”. I’ve played for 30 years and that is the way we have always said it.

    Regards,

    Brent LaFond – Michigan

  4. Brent,
Thanks for the information. I looked it up and indeed “kick at the cat” is a bastardized version of the term “kick at the can”. We’ll definitely bring this up on the show this week – thanks again.

  5. If indeed you guys are playing DIFFERENT goal horns to signify the end of periods on the podcast, it’d be great if you could tell us from which team they belong to. As you know, I HATE the Ducks horn from past playoff runs…nice to hear something different!

  6. Great show as always…I may just have to pop in on the 22nd to chime in. I am just wondering if you guys played any fantasy hockey this season….how you guys are doing?

  7. Fantastic Podcast this week. Hopefully you can talk about the projected outdoor game next season the Rangers might be having at Yankee Stadium. I’ve heard that it’s either going to be against the Bruins or the Red Wings.

Originally it was thought to be they were going to play the Devils or Islanders, but NBC wants the Rangers to play against another big media market team.

  8. Nice tap dance by Pronger on Kesler. It’s a good thing his name is not Simon… his name will allow him do keep on doing what he’s good at.

  9. It seems like this has come up say, oh, 7 times before! Pronger is a thug, always was, always will be. This stomping of Kesler is eerily similar to Simon. Simon got bounced, this jerk should be as well. If I were Anaheim, I’d rather get him tossed now than in the playoffs so they might as well get it out of the way now.
