Ray Emery leaves KHL team over salary collection concerns

Former Ottawa goalie Ray Emery has – for the time being – left his team in Russia in protest.

The 26-year-old oft-troubled netminder didn’t report back to Mytishchi Atlant following the end of the Kontinental League’s mid-season break and according to ESPN, Emery is citing salary-related issues as his reason for staying away.

Kontinental League concludes Board of Directors meetings

The Kontinental League has announced the results from their recently held, quarterly Board of Directors meetings.

Among the decisions reached at the meeting is that the KHL has approved the establishment of a youth hockey league, starting in the 2009-10 season, in order to allow each team to grow and develop young prospects from the ages of 17-21 within their own system.

Report: Avery clears waivers; likely AHL bound

Canadian sports network TSN reported Monday afternoon that forward Sean Avery has cleared waivers.

The New York Rangers’ American League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, is a likely destination for Avery’s return to professional hockey due to the fact that Dallas currently does not have its own AHL team.
