  1. Hi guys,

    Had to comment on the Vokoun deal with Washington. Rumours have it that Vokoun was simply not interested in going to Colorado and the price for him was far too high for the Avalanche to pay.

    Having said that: the price for Varlamov was too high as well. No Avalanche fan thinks this was a bargain, but what’s done is done and this team loves a rebuild project – (see Peter Mueller, Tomas Fleischman etc).

    We can only hope that Varlamov will stay healthy, but even if he doesn’t, JS Giguere is still a huge upgrade over Brian Elliott and Peter Budaj.

  2. A couple assorted comments…

    Bates Battaglia’s nickname apparently was inherited from his father. But an even stranger bit about him. His grandfather (whom he never met) was a notorious Chicago mobster, Sam “Teets” Battaglia.

    Harry Dick is a horrible name, but there was a baseball player named Dick Burns, and a friend of mine’s grandfather was named Harry Mann.
