In regards to the most recent show:
During the Flyers/Penguins brawl fest in which Lavy went off on Granato and Bylsma, I think something goes unremarked. While the Vitale hit on Briere was one hundred percent clean and a beautiful hit, it is one that should never have been made. NBC barely covered the hit that Vitale laid on Grossman, however if you can go back and rewatch it, it’s apparent that it’s a purposeful knee on knee hit. Grossman had a history of knee injuries, and I’m sure Vitale was cognizant of that when he went after him. Also, while Crosby did get crosschecked by Schenn (should have been a penalty most likely), what NBC didn’t show (or mention) was that earlier that period, Crosby crosschecked Schenn directly in the back and knocked him down to no call.
I wouldn’t be surprised if in addition to what you guys said, the fact that Vitale and Crosby were both attempting to deliver dirty hits against an opponent they are going to have to face in the first round.
