NHL Previews – March 11, 2008

Last night, in the first ever NHL Previews post here on PuckPodcast.com, I went 3-for-3 with my predictions and got the Rangers/Sabres score exactly right! I also correctly predicted a blowout win for the Flames who were struggling on offense going into that game. Not a bad first effort, let’s see how I do for an encore.

I don’t have a lot of time to post today and the games are starting in just 13 minutes so it’s straight to the predictions:

Colorado vs. Atlanta – I can’t imagine the Thrashers beating an Avalanche team that is playing well and who is desperate for points. I’ll predict a 4-2 Avalanche win.

Flyers vs. Maple Leafs – Toronto has been great since the trading deadline and I don’t think that will stop tonight. I’ll predict a 3-2 win for the Leafs.

Devils vs. Canadiens - GAME OF THE NIGHT!Montreal plays a very entertaining style of hockey and they’ve been red hot lately. Carey Price recently beat Martin Brodeur head-to-head. This will be a close game but I’m going to give it to the veteran. I predict a 3-1 win for the Devils.

Bruins vs. Senators – Senators are circling the drain, but the Bruins have been giving up goals like crazy so who knows how this game will go. I’ll predict a 4-3 win for the Senators.

Islanders vs. Lightning – Tampa Bay is awful. I’ll predict a 5-2 win for the Islanders.

Blackhawks vs. Red Wings – Niklas Lidstrom is back and even though the Blackhawks had some success against the Wings earlier this year it’s tough to pick them in this game. I’ll predict a 3-1 win for Detroit.

Sharks vs. Predators – The Sharks have won nine straight and are the NHL’s best team on the road. That being said, I’ll predict a 3-2 win for the Predators.

Blues vs. Oilers – The Blues are terrible lately and the Oilers are playing solid hockey in recent weeks. I’ll predict a 5-2 win for the Oilers.

Ducks vs. Coyotes – Anaheim is good, but Ilya Bryzgalov is motivated to beat his old team. Without Corey Perry I think the Ducks will struggle to score. I’ll predict a 2-1 win for the Coyotes.

My predictions on the season: 3-0 (1 exactly right)

Remember, these predictions are just for fun and are not for gambling purposes. If you have a prediction of your own please post it as a message on this thread.
