A Day in the Life: Eddie Garcia

On Saturday, April 6, 2009, I followed….myself around with a video camera to show what a typical Saturday during the hockey season is like for me. We start with a behind the scenes look at the recording of the Puck Podcast with clips of the actual broadcast and a chat with co-host Doug Stolhand. Later you’ll see me relaxing at home watching more hockey on TV then any one married man should be allowed to all with the loving support of my wife Karen. Finally we hit the ice for some THRILLING adult hockey league action with Team Kaustick including a stirring pregame speech from captain Marc Posner and a career game from me. It’s all a “Day in the Life” with Eddie Garcia.

  1. Eddie: Loved the video. My favorite part was you having to sneak Doug in the back door. It reminded me of letting your friends in the exit door of the movie theatre once you got in… Is he not allowed in the building, officially?

  2. Love the video! The humor was good, having to let Eddie in the building, the support of the loving wife, and the adult ice hockey game. Though letting Doug in and the adult hockey game probably wasnt meant for humor. Hey dont short sell your rink. My tournament team played a team from Aliso Viejo, the Diablos, in Las Vegas last fall and were beat pretty good. You looked pretty good out there. You showed some good speed, pin point passing and a powerful wrist shot.

  3. So are you a Defencemen, Eddie? Or were you just being a good teammate, and rotating to the point there?

  4. Hahaha, my favorite part is the sweet pre-podcast warm-up. Three kicks, then you miss it, and you’re done. Hilarious! Also, I like the little girl in the pink shirt going crazy for the Stortini-Rypien fight. Introducing her to hockey at a young age!

  5. “Somewhere, Carrie Underwood is cheering!” haha, love it man. Nice work!

I liked when the camera panned to Doug during the show he was answering my question. I’ll take that as a mini shout-out.

  6. Hey, don’t take this the wrong way, Eddy but your wife is a babe. Congrats.

Oh and I missed the thrilled little girl during the Oilers-Canucks fight. I used to tune out during fights but since I’ve discovered this podcast I have learned that fights are among the most entertaining moments of a game. Of course, I still don’t really see the on-ice scrapping but my eyes are glued to the screen trying to get a shot of some crazy fan hijinks.

  7. Just to answer some questions and make some comments on what has been posted here.

Mark-Doug does not have to be sneeked in but I will say the higher-ups at Fox Sports Radio have no idea we are doing the show.

Dustin-So..we are much better looking then you imagined, right?

Terry-Although my teammates and I take our hockey games very seriously, “highlights” of my hockey game was meant to be humorous.

Adam-Yes I am a defenseman and was patroling the point.

Carter-The three kicks of the soccer ball were two more then I thought we would pull off.

Logan and Jeff-Calling my wife a babe is just fine with me. I agree. Thank goodness she didn’t marry me for my hockey skills.

I welcome any more comments or questions. Thanks for watching my “Day in the Life”

  8. Eddie, what’s with the Penguins jersey?? You should have been wearing a vintage King’s jersey for the Day in the Life!
