DENVER – Colorado Avalanche forwards Ryan Smyth and Milan Hejduk scored their 300th career goals against Calgary on Sunday night, becoming just the second pair in NHL history to reach the milestone in the same game.

EDMONTON – It was well worth the wait for Glenn Anderson.
After a long hold out before finally entering the Hockey Hall of Fame last year, Anderson didn’t have much of a delay before his name and number went up to the rafters at Rexall Place in Edmonton, where he won five Stanley Cups as a member of the Oilers.

HERSHEY, Pa. – Hershey Bears forward Alexandre Giroux scored in his 15 consecutive game Sunday, breaking an American Hockey League record that belonged to former NHL superstar Brett Hull.

PITTSBURGH – Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots, Petr Sykora had a goal and an assist and Sidney Crosby’s return lifted the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues defenceman Roman Polak will be out indefinitely due to a fractured right foot.Polak was hurt in Saturday’s 2-1 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo Sabres defenceman Teppo Numminen is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery Sunday to repair a fractured bone in his face.

PITTSBURGH – Sidney Crosby was back in the lineup when the Pittsburgh Penguins played host to the New York Rangers on Sunday.The Penguins’ star centre was injured late in a loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, apparently hurting his left knee.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Milan Michalek scored the tiebreaking goal on a breakaway with 9:42 to play, and the San Jose Sharks stayed on top of the Western Conference with a dynamic 6-5 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

CALGARY – Mikkel Boedker had the game-winning goal and also added an assist Saturday night as the Phoenix Coyotes snapped Calgary’s seven-game home winning streak with a 4-3 victory.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maybe the Nashville Predators should’ve kept Rich Peverley.Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist, and the Atlanta Thrashers routed the Predators 7-2 Saturday night for their second win in two nights.

ST. LOUIS – Martin Havlat scored 1:23 into overtime, and Cristobal Huet made 27 saves for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Corey Perry’s two goals and Jonas Hiller’s fourth shutout this season sent the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Sharks defenceman Rob Blake will be out of San Jose’s lineup for at least two games after getting hit in the face with a puck.

TAMPA, Fla. – Jay Bouwmeester scored for a fourth straight game and completed Florida’s three-goal second period as the Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Saturday night.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Zach Parise had a goal and an assist for the New Jersey Devils, who beat the New York Islanders 3-1 and stretched their winning streak to three games on Saturday night.

OTTAWA – Alexei Kovalev scored in regulation and in the shootout Saturday night as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Ottawa Senators 5-4.Kovalev and Maxim Lapierre both beat Brian Elliott, making his first appearance in an NHL shootout, while neither Jason Spezza or Daniel Alfredsson were able to score for Ottawa.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Tim Connolly scored twice and Ryan Miller made 36 saves in the Buffalo Sabres’ 3-1 win over Carolina on Saturday night that sent the Hurricanes to their fifth straight loss.

WASHINGTON – Alexander Semin’s third-period goal gave the Washington Capitals a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.Semin took the puck at the Capitals’ blue-line, streaked down the ice, and fired a shot past goalie Tim Thomas at 11:48.

TAMPA, Fla. – Lightning rookie Steven Stamkos was out of the lineup for the second time in five games Saturday night against the Florida Panthers as part of an ongoing program to increase his physical strength.

BUFFALO – Buffalo Sabres defenceman Andrej Sekera will be out for at least two weeks with an ankle injury.Coach Lindy Ruff said the team will evaluate Sekera, 22, in at least a couple of weeks – “or maybe longer” – after Chicago forward Dustin Byfuglien checked the Slovak into the boards in Buffalo’s loss to the Blackhawks on Wednesday.
